Emma's proofreading services have been increasingly in demand this year, with projects coming in from the worlds of academia, shipping, food manufacturing, procurement, pharmaceuticals and finance. Emma has been able to ensure multiple publications, websites and annual reports are error-free and written in clear, grammatically correct English. Reassuring for her clients, and fascinating for Emma to build on this area of her knowledge and skills.

Your starter for ten...
Emma's communication skills were called on for a project with a difference this month, in the guise of a quiz night for a top Surrey prep school. Emma was commissioned to research, write and adjudicate a twelve-round quiz, which included questions on sport, music, general knowledge, history, literature and celebrity life. The event went very well, with happy winners, gracious runners-up and a pleasing amount of money raised for charity. Emma also chairs a fundraising committee at the school to raise money for sports equipment. In this role, she plans and co-ordinates an annual Christmas black-tie ball, handling ticket applications, event logistics, raffle prizes and publicity.

A Greek chorus of success
Less than two years after being launched in the UK, marine publication, 'The Navigator', of which Emma is the founding and current editor, made its international debut in Greece. The first ever Greek language version of the magazine was unveiled at Posidonia, a major shipping exhibition that takes place every two years in Athens. The magazine was very well received by the international shipping industry, and Emma even managed to grab a few hours off to look round the Acropolis. Emma's first freelance business trip abroad was an historical success in more ways than one!
